Rules of Creativity Zine

This project was to create a two page zine spread. There are many aspects to creating that are a necessity. I have written down 6 rules that are crucial to designers to maintain fresh ideas and sanity. Those rules are growth, accepting ups and downs, embracing obstacles, do not compare, play and experiment, and learn.
For the zine I decided to go with rule 1, growth and rule 5, experiment. I chose these because I thought they would be the most fun to visualize. There were a lot of fun ways to visualize these topics. I created a mind map and it was sort of helpful. My mind maps are never super organized, and there are other ways I brainstorm that work better for me, even though they are similar processes.
For the growth I decided to do some sort of plant. I also decided to do a mix of photography and digital art. So, I went scrolling through my photos until I found a few images I liked and picked one. I then stuck the photo in photoshop and “traced” some of the flowers to make a gradual transition from photo, to art, to line work. I thought this would be a fun way to show progress while also incorporating multiple medias. I then deleted a lot of the photo and changed the background to green to create a space for the text. Also, I made the sub text size 14 because even though it may look slightly small on digital, in print it would look plenty big.
For experiment I decided to do a chemistry flask, and I made this graphic in Illustrator. I also made the bubbles to fill the space and create repetition between the image and the area for the text.
I then put these images in Indesign, and added text.
